Sports Writers recognize 3 KHS baseball players with 2018 All-State lists

The Kennedale Wildcat baseball team had three players to be recognize by the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State Baseball Teams. {{more: continue ..}}?
  • Aaron Herrera led the list as a TSWA All-State First Team player in the outfield. He was one of just 14 players across the state in Class 4A recognized. Locally, this year, Herrera was the District 7-4A Offensive Player of the year. Last year in 2017, he was District 7-4A Defensive Player of the Year. And, as a sophomore in 2016, he was named 1st Team All-District.?
  • Bryce Hackett this year was named twice in the TSWA All-State Honorable Mention category for both pitcher and 3rd base. He has twice been named District 7-4A MVP, winning it in 2017 and 2016. In 2016 as a sophomore, he was named District 7-4A Newcomer of the Year.?
  • Jared Taylor also earned TSWA All-State Honorable Mention as pitcher this year. At the district level, Taylor has twice been named 7-4A All-District Pitcher of the Year, earning the honor in both 2017 and 2018.?

These three represented a senior class that made their presence known early. Moving up from their freshman year on to the varsity the Cats went 10-17, 5-5. The following year in 2017 as juniors the Wildcats finished overall 17-10 and in district play 11-1. Eight of the eleven Wildcats selected all-district players were from their class.

This year as seniors, Kennedale finished their best season in a number of years. The Wildcats were 17-7-1, swept district play by going 12-0 and went 3 deep into the playoffs. Ten of the twelve all-district players were from this senior class.
