Steve was of Serbian descent but grew up in Milwaukee. He was a plumber later in life but worked for his wife Cappy (Tyson) when they first began dating, in fact, that is how they met. {{more: continue …}}

Cappy had a “Road Crew” in the 1940s that worked for Mr. Bledsoe who owned the Kentucky Derby. Steve was part of that crew.? They would go “On the Road” as they would call it, selling magazine subscriptions all around the United States.

Their nieces, Laurie, Lindy, and Pat Middleton, always loved to hear the many stories about all their adventures. After many years of constant travel, they decided to return to Cappy’s hometown of Kennedale.?

Cappy’s dad, Marshall Tyson, owned Hi-Way Plumbing and Steve began to work with him after a short time selling top of the line baby furniture.?
?
Cappy went to beauty school, along with her sister, Dotty and Mr. Tyson built them a beauty shop when he was building the new plumbing shop. Steve later took over the business from his father-in-law and kept going as long as he was able.

Steve was active in the city, serving as councilman from 1958-1966 and then again 1970-1976 when he ran and was elected as Kennedale Mayor. He was Mayor from 1976-1984 and then again from 1986-1993. During his term as mayor, Kennedale built a new Library.

Steve was always well-liked and respected in town and lived a long life to 96 years old. He would always tell anyone the same thing when he was leaving their company, “Let me know how I can help you!” and he really meant it.

A Clebration of Life service was held October 29, 2019 at Emeral Hills Memorial Park.?
