Summer Reading Program kicks of Saturday at TownCenter Park

Bring your own picnic lunch and join the fun at the Kennedale Library and the TownCenter Park from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

It is part of the Summer Reading Program offered by the Kennedale Library that challenges both kids and adults.

As Kennedale Librarian, Amanda King, noted on the Kennedale Library site, ?Kids look forward to wonderful lazy days of summer all year. Then, after about two weeks, the “I’m bored…!” complaints can start to set in. Let us help keep them busy and learning! The Summer Reading Club is an eight-week program for both children and adults that is designed to keep kids’ skills sharp over the summer break, provide opportunities for family time, and encourage a love of reading in all ages.?

You can register now for the 2018 Summer Reading Club. Forms are available at the Library or here. The program runs from Saturday, June 2 through Saturday, July 28. As soon as you’ve reached a goal for your age group, stop by the Kennedale Library to choose your prize.

  • Perot Museum Tech Truck: Saturday, June 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm.
  • Storyteller Toni Simmons: Wednesday, June 20, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Summer Reading Club Finale and Talent Show: Saturday, July 28, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Note: Each event is geared towards the age group listed, but these are suggestions, rather than rules. Of course, siblings are always welcome!
  • Babygarten: Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. (ages 0-3*)
  • Summer Storytime: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. (ages 0-5*)
  • STEM Club: Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. (grades K-8*)
  • LEGO Club: Fridays at 4:00 p.m. (grades K-4*)
  • Family Time: Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. (all ages)
