Actually, it is little surprise that Texas has five cities in the Top Ten in the nation. And, not surprising for for those of us who live in the DFW area, all these cities are located nearby. {{more:? continue ?}}?

The cities include #2 Frisco, #5 Denton, #6 McKinney, #7 Carrollton and #9 Allen. Fort Worth comes in at #13. Richardson is #25, Grand Prairie #37, Irving #39, Arlington #59, Plano #74 and Dallas #112. Elsewhere in Texas, Austin falls in at #12 and Laredo is #32.
When you factor in size, among large cities Austin jumps to #1 followed by Fort Worth in the #2 slot and Arlington comes in at #12.

The study considered 23 indicators for housing market attractiveness and economic strength including median home price, price appreciation, home sales, turnover rate and job growth.?

And from the no surprise category, Texas ranks near the bottom at #45 in the category of states with lowest property taxes. Texas is tied with Vermont. New Jersey owns the title to highest property tax rates in the country followed by Illnois, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Vermont and Texas.

To Texas? credit,? it has no property tax on automobiles unlike 27 other states.? Those taxes range from $24 in Louisiana to $1,070 in Rhode Island based on a car value at $24,000.
