Zac “Willie” Michener went 2-3, sparking the Wildcats to a 6-2 victory in seven innings over Liberty Hill on Friday at Waco. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Brett Taylor worked out of five tough situations for Kennedale. He pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits. {{more}}

The top of the first saw Liberty Hill take an early lead, 1-0. Liberty Hill caught fire after Kolby Schmidt singled. Then Mason Baty singled, bringing home Schmidt.

Kennedale tied the game in the bottom of the after Jay Thomas scored on a single by Austin Hunt. Thomas, first batter up, had reached on a single (fly ball to left field).

The Wildcats stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring two runs on a passed ball and an RBI single by Josh Taylor. Scoring for the Cats were Zak?Michener (who reached on a?walk) and Aaron Williams (running for Brett Taylor who had reached on a walk).

Brett Taylor faced his toughest situation in the fifth inning. One run in the top of the fifth helped Liberty Hill close its deficit to 3-2. A groundout by Tyler Barrows triggered Liberty Hill’s comeback. Finally, Brett Taylor induced an inning-ending ground out from Kannon Prior.

After a quick strike from Liberty Hill, the Wildcats responded with three runs in the fifth. The Cats scored on a groundout by Josh Taylor and a two-run single by Austin Hunt.

This was the first game of a best of three series with Liberty Hill. ?Game 2 will be played Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Waco at Veteran Park.
