Playing in their third tournament in four weeks, the #10 Kennedale LadyKats will face some top competitors in Texas basketball in the 57th Annual Whataburger Tournament this week. Ten out of the 15 Texas teams are ranked. The 16th team comes from Oklahoma. {{more}}
The LadyKats are making their first appearance in this annual DFW holiday classic. For the girls division, all games will be held at Saginaw High School beginning today and running through Wednesday, December 29-31. Kennedale will play in the Blue Division which is composed of schools from Class 4A, 3A and 2A.
Ranked teams in the tournament from 4A are #2 Abilene Wylie and #3 Waco La Vega; from 3A are #3 Wall, #5 Life Oak Cliff, #9 Cisco, #7 Jim Ned, #19 Bowie; and, from 2A #13 Martins Mill. Plus, there are two large school privates, #2 Liberty Christian and #10 Dallas Christian.
The Lady Kats will kick off play against Life Oak Cliff currently ranked #5 in Class 3A. Game time is 1 p.m. at Saginaw High School, Monday December 29.WhataburgerBracket/schedule
