Two Kennedale graduates, Cody Kovar and A.J. Garcia, have made the roster at McMurray University Football as freshmen this fall. {{more}}
McMurry, located in Abilene, Texas, is a NCAA Division III school in the American Southwest Conference.
The two join Jill Bietendorf, KHS Class of 2013, a senior who runs track and cross country for McMurry.
A.J. Garcia, listed as a wide receiver at 5’10 and 156 lbs., has the following information in his team bio:
- graduate of Kennedale High School (2015)
- coached by Richard Barrett with 2 varsity seasons
- a 2-time regional qualifier for the wildcats? powerlifting team
- born November 9, 1996 in Arlington, Texas
- son of Alvaro and Priscilla Garcia with one older sister
- enjoys hunting and fishing
- a confirmation retreat leader for his church
- a business major.
Cody Kovar, listed as a offensive lineman at 5’9, 225 lbs., has the following information in his team bio:
- graduate of Kennedale High School (2015)
- coached by Richard Barrett with 2 varsity seasons
- 1st team all-district (center)
- academic all-state, as well
- UIL academic state qualifier
- also involved in theatre as a prep
- born June 19, 1997 in Arlington, Texas
- son of Frank Kovar and Vanessa Kovar, and stepson of Rochelle Kovar with one brother and one sister, both younger
- volunteered as a tutor
- wants his own software development company
- a computer science and English double major with a mathematics minor.
