Besides starting classes, they will be reporting to Head Coach Sean Kugler to begin their conditioning program and get their introduction to the football program.
“I’m excited to be out here,” said Wadley, who came in June 30. “This is all completely new. The classes are larger. I’m going to have to adjust to the weather; it’s a lot drier here. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. I’ll know when I start playing.”
As for the football portion that began Thursday, “I’m excited to see what the next level has in store,” Wadley said.
Head Coach Sean Kugler said this second summer session at UTEP provides a great chance to ease into a college routine.
“We get them in the weight room, we get them in classes. The biggest thing is they get to meet their teammates, so they’re not all strangers when they get out there in camp,” Kugler said. “I’m already getting texts from guys, ‘Where’s the business building? Coach, I need a calculator.’
“This is where we get them acclimated, get them up to speed.”
Wadley was Texas’ Class 4A player of the year last season at Kennedale, rushing for 2,511 yards and 45 touchdowns last season for the Wildcats. He ran for over 300-yards twice last season, with a season high 389 yards in the season opener. Max Preps named Wadley to their 2015 Medium Schools All-American Team. He also received NBC Channel 5’s Unsung Player of the Year award.
