Meet the Parks & Recreation Board …
Parks & Rec Place 1: David Deaver (Chair) served since 1998
David is a KHS alum who?s served on the Parks Board for almost 20 years. He?s also been on the Advisory Board for Lincoln College of Technology in Grand Prairie, and works in aerospace. He hopes to see more hike-and-bike trails in the city, especially along Village Creek and serving to connect the existing parks.
Parks & Rec Place 2: Jeff Nevarez (since 2014)
Jeff has served on various advisory boards for almost a decade, and is currently on BBA/BOA and the Parks Board. He?s also active in the Kennedale Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC), serving as ground director for the annual parade. Jeff, a UTA alum, is a computer specialist, owner of TechXperts.guru, and coaches Upward Flag Football coach at Lake Arlington Baptist Church.
Parks & Rec Place 3: Michael Chandler (since 2005)
Michael was born in East Texas, but has lived in Kennedale for twenty years. His youngest daughter graduated from KHS this year, and he was heavily involved with PTA for the first seven of her school years. His wife, Vickie, serves on KKB also. The Chandlers all love the outdoors and serving Kennedale.
Parks & Rec Place 4: Glenn ?Mickey? Shark (since 2014)
Mickey has lived in Kennedale his whole life, and graduated from KHS in 2009. He loves sports and outdoor activities and wants to help Kennedale become a more active community.
Parks & Rec Place 5: Azam Shaikh (since 2015)
Azam is a US Federal Government employee who currently serves on the Parks Board and the city?s Communications Task Force. Since the early eighties, Azam has been a pioneer in the community working with Interfaith Group, helping the indigent, and other community services.
Parks & Rec Place 6: Alan Pederson (since 2012)
Alan joined the Parks Board because he loves being outdoors. He spends lots of time biking, hiking, and fishing, and wanted to help improve our community?s outdoor spaces so it?s more convenient for everyone to enjoy those activities. Alan works for Domtar, a forest products company that encourages employees to volunteer in their communities.Parks & Rec Place 7: VACANTParks & Rec Place 8: Dylan Black (since 2014)
Dylan has lived in Kennedale his whole life, and has been enjoying the community parks since his grandfather first took him fishing at Sonora as a child. Now he?s in college, and enjoys working with his fellow Parks Board members to improve our outdoor facilities for current and future generations.Parks & Rec Place 9: VACANT
The Parks Board advises and formulates recommendations to the City Council for the use, improvement, and growth of parks and recreation activities within the city. Members also develop and implement community events, including KidFISH and Bark in the Park. Regular meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month.
