Wildcats Baseball Lose to 4A Sherman 7-3

Zac Michener tried to give the Wildcats a boost in the 5th, but it wasn’t enough to get past Sherman, as the Kennedale Wildcats Varsity lost 7-3 in six innings at Duncanville HS on Saturday.

Sherman’s Kyle Maxwell got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three, walked four and surrendered five hits.?Sherman was sparked by Will Olson and Chris Goosen, who teamed up for four hits and six RBIs. {{more}}

The top of the first saw the Wildcats take an early lead, 2-0. Jake Michener started things for Kennedale with a single. An error then moved Jake Michener from first to third and then he scored on a single by Hayden Millis. The Wildcats got another one when?Millis scored on a sacrifice fly by Austin Hunt. That was all for the Cats in the inning after Austin Eggelson flied out leaving ?2 on base.

The game’s last lead went to Sherman thanks to a fourth inning rally that saw five runs cross the plate on an RBI double by Olson, a three-run home run by Goosen, and a passed ball.

One run in the top of the fifth helped Kennedale close their deficit to 7-3. A fielder’s choice fueled the Wildcats’ comeback who at one point had the bases loaded with one out. First Wildcat up, Millis, grounded out but then Zac Michener reached 1st on a grounder and got 2nd on a pass ball. The next two batters walked, Josh Taylor and Brett Taylor. ?With the bases loaded Hunt hit a grounder to short stop, Michener scored but Brett Taylor was throw out at 2nd on the fielder choice. The inning ended with Hunt being thrown out stealing 2nd.

The first Kennedale batter up in the 6th was Ryan Box who popped out to 1st. Second batter, Chayce Colthrap, hit a grounder to left field and reached 1st. ?Jordan Braswell then hit a grounder to short stop but on the fielder’s choice, Colthrap, was thrown out at 2nd. Sherman’s Carson McClure ended the game by getting Justin Jakubisin to hit a fly ball to the left fielder.
