Wildcats Get 2nd Shutout With 62-0 Win Over Castleberry.

Running back Donny Darville scored 5 touchdowns in a district contest at Castleberry Friday night. While completely shutting down their second district foe in a row, the Cats have now scored 146 points, allowing their last two opponents a combined 8 yards of total offense. Friday night the Cats had 422 yards of offense all on the ground and the Lions had 23 total yards with 47 passing and ? 24 rushing.

Kennedale (6-2, 3-0) started the game strong after Castleberry (2-6, 0-3) received the opening kick-off and was thrown for three consecutive losses. {{more}} Forced to punt out of their own end zone, the Lions fumbled and Taylor Thibeau recovered for the Cats’ first touchdown. Darville would score the next 5 touchdowns for Kennedale, ending the game with 12 carries and 162 yards. Castleberry did make a strong attempt late in the 2nd quarter after stopping Kennedale and moving into Kennedale territory using their pass offense. However, a Kennedale interception stopped the threat and the Cats went on to score their third touchdown just before the half. The extra point failed and Kennedale led 27-0 at halftime. The third quarter would be all Kennedale with the Cats scoring 28 unanswered points. Trey McGahan (Sr. Kennedale LB)was the defensive leader with 17 tackles, two sacks, four tackles for losses and a fumble recovery.

The Wildcats who are now in sole possession of first place have two district opponents left. They will face the Lake Worth Bullfrogs (4-4, 2-1) next week at Lake Worth and finish at home against Mineral Wells (5-3, 2-1). Both games start at 7:30 p.m. Currently District 6-3A has three teams tied for second with Springtown, Lake Worth and Mineral Wells knotted at 2-1.
