Kennedale long known for its track prowess won the men?s division in both the recent district and area track meets while the Lady Kats earned 2nd at both. {{more:[read more]}}Kennedale will send a large group this week to the Region 1 Track and Field Meet in Lubbock.

A regular at the regional and state meets, the Wildcats won the state title in 2014 while the Lady Kats were 3rd in the state the same year. Both teams finishing 3rd in 2013. The Lady Kat earned their own state title in 2004.

Last week the Wildcats swept the area meet at Porcupine Stadium in Springtown, finishing with 143 points. Alvarado was 2nd with 118 followed by Decatur (90), Springtown (86), Venus (38) to finish out the top 5 teams. Others competing were Midlothian Heritage, Castleberry, Godley, Lake Worth and Bridgeport. Kennedale had 6 first place finishes along with 4 second place finishes in their race to the top. Pryce O?Brien (Sr) had 3 golds by taking two individual 1st in the 200 and 400 Dash and another as part of the winning 4×400 team. The Cats dominated the 4×200 and 4×400 relays winning both.

The Lady Kats finished a strong second with 106 points behind Lake Worth at 125 points. The top five included Decatur (95), Godley (89.5) and Alvarado (78). The Kats swept the top three spots in the 100 Dash, took the top two spots in the 200 Dash and won both the 4×100 and the 4×200 while finishing 2nd in the shot. Alexis Brown (Fr) earned a total of 4 golds (100 & 200 Dash, 4×100 and 4×200 relays).
