Going into the tournament the Wildcats were 3-2. Kennedale owned wins over Bridgeport, Crandall and Mineral Wells and losses to 5A North Forney and 5A Granbury..
Being at home has been good for Kennedale?s game. The Wildcats have won 4 straight games in the opening rounds of the tournament, earning them a berth in the semifinal game on Saturday.
Kennedale opened the tournament in pool play by defeating 3A Midland Greenwood 75-42, 5A Dallas Bryan Adams 71-40, 5A Everman 67-65 and then Grosebeck late this afternoon moving Kennedale?s record to 7-2.
In the semifinal game tomorrow at 11 a.m. the Cats will face Bryan Adams again. Odds are that Kennedale will play Everman in the championship game which will be played at 6:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
In the earlier game, the Everman Bulldogs pushed the Wildcats to the limit, literally. With the lead swapping multiple times in last minute and half, Everman tied the game with less than 20 seconds left. Kennedale responded with a full court fast break with a layup as time expired.
The #9 Kennedale Lady Kats (11-1) have been just as successful in the tournament, winning their first four games, and will be playing in the semifinal match tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. with a final scheduled at 5:00 p.m.
