Arlington ISD and Kennedale ISD archery programs hosted the Texas Two-Step Tournament over January 19th-22nd. It was 1 tournament, 2 locations, multiple days, 51 schools, and 1,063 archers.
Participating archers ranged from elementary to high school.
Top awards are given to 1st place teams in Elementary, Middle, and High School. As well as, 1st-3rd place boys and girls in each division.
Team Standings …
In the high school division, Arlington Martin finished in 1st place out of 19 teams. Kennedale High School finished in 7th place. Following Arlington in the top 10 was Prosper, Eustace, Kaufman, Rockhill (Prosper), Brock, Kennedale, Burleson-Centennial, Allen, and Kaufman.
The top individual overall score was Jennifer Vera (Jr) from Martin with a score of 292 and a tens score of 24 followed by Landry Huggins (8th) from Eustance Middle also with a 292 but a tens score of 22. A perfect score is 300.
Top KHS Performers …
Stevie Cerda (So) had the top male score for KHS with a 281 putting him in the top overall boys 25 at #22 out of a total of 564 boys. Kari Sprinkle (So) joined him in the top quarter at #25 with a 278 for the 496 girls in the tournament.
Maribeth Martinez scored the highest for a KHS freshman on the girls’ side with a 265. For freshmen boys, it was Jacob Golden with a 260.
The top twelve performers for KHS listed in descending order were Esteban Cerda (So) 281, Kari Sprinkle (So) 278, Nicholas Cole (Jr) 278, Preston Currie (Jr) 275, Adrian Leos (Jr) 273, Hayden Dominquez (So) 272, Emma Holmes (Sr) 268, Megan Tidwell (Jr) 266, Maribeth Martinez (Fr) 265, Teighan Gilland (So) 262, Cessy Moreno (Jr) 261, and Macarthur Toren (So) 260.
KHS personal records set at the two-day tournament …
The Wildcat team had 16 of its 42 archers set new personal records at the Two-Step, according to Danny Wilcox, KHS Sponsor, and KHS Outdoor Education teacher. Students with new records were:

Kennedale will host the 2023 Garrett Hull Memorial Scholarship Tournament on February 24-25, 2023. The 2023 State Tournament is scheduled for March 22 & 23, 2023 at Bell County Expo Center, Belton, TX.
