The following was released by KISD …
Our teacher spotlight this week is a teacher we all know and love, and this is her second time to be featured! This week we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Mrs. Kelly Soncrant.
Mrs. Soncrant is the Dyslexia Therapist and Reading Interventionist at James F. Delaney Elementary. This is her 18th year of teaching and her 9th year in Kennedale ISD – and she LOVES it here in KISD!
Mrs. Soncrant has years of diverse experience behind her teaching multiple grade levels and subjects. In addition to her teaching experience, Mrs. Soncrant holds certifications in PreK-6 self-contained; 1-6 Reading, English, and Math; Gifted & Talented, ESL, and Special Education K-12. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Special Education with a Dyslexia concentration and will finish next year.
She is also preparing to take her CALT exam in May to become a Certified Academic Language Therapist and will finish by taking her Educational Diagnostician exam next December.
We asked Mrs. Soncrant what she enjoys most about working with her students: “I love watching a student that has been struggling with something suddenly understand and make the connection. They just light up, and it always makes me smile to see how excited they are.”
Mrs. Soncrant was nominated by a co-worker who shared “I am nominating Kelly because of the endless hours she puts into making her dyslexia lessons meaningful and engaging. She spends so much time putting her lessons together and helping create the reading common assessments this year. She deserves a shout out!”
Mrs. Soncrant is truly a gem and we are proud to have her in Kennedale ISD. Thank you for all you do to support our students!
