Week of August 30, 2021


Volleyball …


Kennedale High School Volleyball made the #4 spot on the TGCA (Texas Girls Coaches Association) in a statewide 4A post this past week, August 30. The volleyball team at the time had a record of 18-3. Kennedale fell one place from the previous week. MaxPreps currently ranks the Lady Kats #4 in Class 4A. and #69 in the State of Texas with all high school teams and #169 nationally.


Kennedale beat 5A Lake Dallas 3-1 then played in the Sawyer Camillo Tournament at Argyle. In pool play, Kennedale again beat Lake Dallas (3-0) and Harker Heights (3-0) and advanced but lost (2-0) to 5A Wichita Falls Rider who claimed the tournament championship. In other actions, the Kennedale lady Kats beat Melissa (2-0) and #15 Brownwood (2-0). Last Tuesday the Kat visited 6A Cedar Hill to bring back another win 3-0.


Friday, the fighting Kats take on 5A Burleson (12 -17) in an away game set for 5:30 pm.


Football …


A big game Friday night with the Kennedale Wildcats taking on the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars in the first home game of the season, beginning at 7:30 pm.

Kennedale is currently ranked #12 in MaxPreps for Class 4A and #160 statewide with all schools. Heritage is ranked #8 in Class 4A by MaxPreps and #128 statewide. The Star-Telegram has Kennedale ranked #4 and Midlothian Heritage #5 in Week 3 rankings of area 4A teams. Both teams are 1-0 with Kennedale traveling to defeat Decatur 21-7 last week and Heritage waylaying Everman 50-23 at home last Friday.


The Star-Telegram’s Brian Gosset predicts Kennedale to be the winner in what S-T is calling a marquee match-up. The Wildcats have beaten the Jaguars 3 times in the last 4 meetings over the past 6 years. S-T prediction: Kennedale 42, Heritage 28.

Cross Country …


On August 20, 2021, Kennedale High hosted a cross country meet at the Arlington Martin Luther King Sports Complex. The Kennedale Wildcats finished 2nd behind Argyle.

Brandon Haub (SR) placed 3rd in the 4A 5000 Meter Run with a 16:24.65. Justin Walker (JR) finished 11th with Adrian Gonzalez (JR) 16th and Carlos Gonzalez (JR) 18th. They were followed by Wildcats Joseph Farris (SO) and Glen Gonzalez (FR).

At the same event, the Kennedale Lady Kats placed 5th and were led by Savanna Danner (SR) who finished in 2nd place with a time of 14:07.74 in the 3200-meter run. Claudia Louro (SR) was 25th overall followed by Delilah Matinez (SR), Aubrey Haub (Fr), Liria Swing, Valencia Munoz (FR), Kara Williams (SO). Later at the 8th Annual Boyd Yellowjacket Invitation Savanna Danner (SR) placed 11th in the 3200 girls meter run. Kennedale finished 9th overall.
