City swears in the council and mayor with spring election just around the corner

The Council, during a special meeting on Tuesday, November 17, canvassed the results of the election and the following were sworn into office through May 2022. 

  • Office of Mayor of the City of Kennedale: Brian Johnson (incumbent)
  • Office of Kennedale City Council Place 2: Gary Mitchell (newly elected)
  • Office of Kennedale City Council Place 4: Linda Rhodes (incumbent)

During that same election, Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Lee (Place 3) was elected Tarrant County Constable to represent Precinct 7, but may continue to serve in her capacity on the Council until being sworn into that office.

Filing opens next month for the May elections …

The filing period for the May 1, 2021 Election is 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13 through 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2020.

The offices of City Council Places 1, 3, and 5 will appear on the ballot. 

At this point, Place 3 (Sandra Lee) will remain unfilled until the May election cycle.
