The #9 ranked Kennedale Lady Kats (22-3, 4-0) have lost only a single set in the three matches played thus far in the 2020 UIL State Volleyball 4/A Championships.
In bi-district play, the Kats defeated Van Alystine 3-1 followed by a 3-0 conquest of Godley in the area round and last Thursday swept Celina in Region 2 quarterfinals. Four rounds into the state tournament, Kennedale now joins 16 other 4A high school volleyball teams as regional semifinalists.
Reputations as young, smart and aggressive …
Last year, two teams in the playoffs were considered young, smart, and aggressive. Both met up in the regional round, and yes, those two teams were Farmersville and Kennedale – the same two will play each other this year.
Going into the game in 2019 last year, Farmersville (42-1) was ranked #1 in Class 4A and had been all season. The Kennedale Lady Kats (36-7) unranked, were upstarts, yet they came away with a 3-0 sweep, leaving Farmersville plenty of motivation for this season. Kennedale went on to the final four.
Game tickets can be purchased at the door – $4 student and $6 adults. Callisburg High School will host the playoff game. It is north of the metroplex and approximately an hour and a half from Kennedale, not counting rush hour traffic delays – depending on when you leave. Directions
