Kennedale vs Godley 7:30pm Aledo Tuesday in UIL Area Round Playoff …
Goal #1 was to earn another district title. Goal #2 was to return to the playoffs. Goal #3 was to win. The Kennedale Lady Kats volleyball team (20-3, 4-0) is now working on #3.
Thursday evening the Lady Kats downed the fourth seed out of District 9/4A, the Van Alstyne Lady Panthers (14-10, 7-5) in four sets in Region I Bi-District tournament play by 25-18, 20-25, 25-15, and 25-15.
The Kats will now move on to play the Godley Wildcats (18-10, 10-2), the #2 seed out of District 11/4A, in the area round of the UIL playoffs.
Godley defeated North Dallas in three sets also on Thursday. The game date and time is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Aledo. See tournament brackets.
Playoff Notes:
- Kennedale is now ranked #10 in the TGCA’s last poll before playoff action. Kennedale and Sinton (22-3) are tied in the #10 slot. The Kats moved up in the polls from the #17 slot.
- Other than Kennedale, no other team out of District 10/4A survived the first round of the UIL playoffs.
- There were no upset in the Top Ten and all advanced. TGCA Top Ten: #1 Needville 30-0, #2 Lindale 27-0, #3 China Spring 28-0, #4 Hereford 22-1, #5 Decatur 24-1, #6 Farmersville, #7 Graham 24-2, #8 Seely 23-4, #9 Bellville 27-3, #10T Kennedale 20-3 and Sinton 23-3.
- Other teams in this area to watch that have advanced to area include Argyle (21-8), Melissa (20-9), Midlothian Heritage (19-8), Celina (19-4), Stephenville (25-4) and Springtown (20-4).
