This past year, the City of Kennedale hired a new chief of police to replace retiring Chief Tommy Williams. Their choice was from in-house, selecting a 25-year Kennedale veteran, Darrell Hull.
Hull had been serving in the job of Captain in the KPD since the mid-2000s.
The following is part of a bio that has been posted on the Kennedale Police Department webpage.
Chief Darrell Hull’s law enforcement career began in 1993 after attending the Weatherford College Police Academy. After graduating, he worked briefly for the City of Springtown and the City of Weatherford as a patrol officer.
Chief Hull was hired by the City of Kennedale in 1996 and has served here ever since. In 2006, Mr. Hull was promoted to the rank of Captain and served in that capacity until being promoted to Chief.
Chief Hull holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
During his 25-year career in Kennedale, Chief Hull has worked in various capacities and has thousands of hours of law enforcement training in addition to completing numerous leadership courses. Some of these courses include …

- Institute for Law Enforcement Administration,
- Developing Leaders for Texas Law Enforcement, and the
- Texas Police Chief Leadership Training Course.
Chief Hull has also completed several specialized training courses and is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Certified Police Instructor as well as a Professional Standards Investigator.
The Chief is also a member of the Texas Police Chiefs Association, the North Texas Police Chiefs Association, and the North Texas Crime Prevention Association.
As an active member of the Kennedale community, Chief Hull serves on the board of the Kennedale Chamber of Commerce and is an active member of the Kennedale Rotary.
Since his promotion, Chief Hull has identified new departmental goals and his vision of establishing a professional police culture within the Kennedale Police Department.
Chief Hull believes in and is dedicated to working with the community to enhance the quality of life for our citizens and visitors through Trust, Integrity, and Purpose.
Chief Hull has been married to his wife Leslie for 26+ years and has three daughters.
Outside of the job, Chief Hull is an outdoor enthusiast and in his spare time enjoys deep sea fishing, hunting, and camping with his family.
