Welcome to the new year 2022!
I pray and hope this new year goes well for everyone. May the Lord crown this year with His goodness for us, and may our carts overflow with abundance of blessings (Psalm 65:11).
As another year begins , we have the opportunity to start afresh leaving behind our past failures, disappointments, hurts and pains. It also affords us the opportunity to glean from past experiences some valuable lessons of life that we can adopt into our current situations and together with new ideas – be a better person than we were these past years. Each year provides us with these opportunities.
The Hebrew word, “Re’shiyth” means “Beginning, First, Best. The start of a thing, event, plan or action.” Thus, we are given the opportunity to have a fresh start; to make right what was wrong; to turn a new leaf (change); to end a cause (plan/goal/objective) with aim for a new start.
At the beginning of a new year it is customary for us to think of this as a time of new beginnings, and a time for new resolutions. Making resolutions is not a bad thing to do. They are simply plans and set goals and how to achieve them.
The disappointments some have experienced from making resolutions and not being able to fulfill them can be traced to unrealistic goals and expectations, lack of self motivation or zeal to continue, unforeseen circumstances, inadequate planning, distractions, lack of endurance etc.
Some stopped making resolutions because of these reasons and because they are tired of being perceived a failure. My encouragement is to glean from the experiences of those who have been successful and those who have failed. Each group has a lot to offer to help us achieve our goals this year. We can learn from the achievers how they achieved their set goals, and we can learn from those who fell short why they did and to avoid their reasons.
Here are some tips from a former work colleague. The source is unknown, but I find it ideal and useful to share. Pray it blesses you. 🙏
Tips for looking forward to a glorious new year
As we come to the end of the year and plan, looking forward to a glorious and impactful 2022, I’m led to send the instructions below. It will help us as we plan ahead.
DO A SELF ASSESSMENT.
☑️Where are you now. (Don’t measure yourself based on material things alone).
☑️Examine the goals you set this year.
☑️Assess progress of these goals
☑️Are they measurable and attainable?
WHAT GOALS ARE YOU SETTING IN 2022?
☑️Spiritual Goals
☑️Family Goals
☑️Relationship Goals
☑️Financial goals (what seed are you going to plant?)
☑️Career and business goals.
BE SURE TO PLAN FOR YOUR HEALTH
☑️Weight loss
☑️Get rid of blood sugar
☑️Monitor your BP.
Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT)
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
REVIEW THE FOOLISH THINGS:
☑️Pursuing material things.
☑️Eating the wrong food or things
☑️Don’t allow everything to worry you.
☑️Don’t abuse your body.
☑️Don’t overwork
☑️Delegate and let other people do things.
☑️It’s foolish to not leave an inheritance for your children’s children.
☑️Live ready while you hope to live long.
☑️Not exercising is foolishness
☑️Not winning souls is also foolishness.
STOP WASTING TIME:
☑️Redeem your time responsibly and live wisely. Time waits for no one.
BE DELIBERATE
☑️Rebellious thoughts (Rebellion causes pain. Deal with every rebellion).
☑️Don’t think yourself stronger than you are.
☑️Stop trying to please everybody.
☑️Laying your treasures in heaven with acts of kindness, righteous living and witness for Jesus Christ.
LIVE WISELY:
☑️Live to be more and do more.
☑️Plan to serve God wisely.
☑️Be a Christian in season and out of season.
☑️Always tell people about Jesus. Make soul winning your mindset.
☑️Spend quality time on social media. Be constructive and positive with what you spend your time on.
☑️Consider leading a Care Group this year.
☑️Think of how to generate money this year.
In closing, I leave you with these words of wisdom in Proverbs 3:5-15 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. 11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son [in whom] he delights. 13 Happy [is] the man [who] finds wisdom, And the man [who] gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds [are] better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15 She [is] more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
BELIEVE GOD. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. YOU WILL MAKE IT!
Happy New Year!
