The Kennedale Wildcats jumped out to a five run lead but in late going had to stop a resurging Brownwood offense winning 5-1 in an area playoff game played in Glen Rose. This sets up the second game of the series in which Brownwood faces a must win game to keeps their playoff hopes alive.
?It was a big night for Jay Thomas with a double and a 2 run homer for 4 RBIs. {{more}}?The Wildcats had a big first inning scoring 3 runs off of a single by Jake Michener, a double by Jay Thomas and singles by Josh Taylor and Austin Hunt.?The score stays 3-0 until the top of the fourth when the Cats score two more off of an over the fence hit by Jay Thomas. Brett Taylor has a single just before Thomas came to the plate. The score stood 5-0 but not for long.?Brownwood scored one run each in the 3rd and 4th followed by two runs in the 5th, all the while shutting down the Kennedale bats. The score after five was 5-4. No runs were scored in the 6th by either team.?The Wildcats couldn?t score in the top of the 7th which left it up to reliever Josh Taylor to keep Brownwood from scoring. It didn?t look good for the Cats when Brownwood had one out and the bases loaded. However, the Wildcats were not going to denied this night as Brownwood on a 3-2 count hit into a double play. Kennedale won 5-4.?Game two will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Glen Rose. Game three if needed will be played 30 minutes later after the completion of game two.?
