Spearman Breaks ASU Softball Records

Morgan Spearman became the first player in Angelo State softball history to hit for the cycle. She recorded the cycle in game three against Midwestern State. The senior hit .636 for the weekend with 10 runs scored and five RBIs. {{more}}
 
The Kennedale native also became all-time ASU leader in runs scored with 197. Spearman recorded a double, two triples and a home run over the weekend. She finished with a 1.364 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage.
Morgan Freeman hits for the cycle

Spearman was a four-year starter at Kennedale High School. She was team captain all four years and named District 12-3A Most Valuable Player in 2010, earning all-state honors and received team MVP accolades.

Last year at ASU, Morgan played and started in all 55 games and was named NFCA third team All-American and first team all-region. She was selected first team All-LSC and was a LSC Golden Glove recipient. For the year she hit .387 with 10 doubles and 10 home runs; third on the team with 42 RBI’s; tied for the team lead in runs scored (45) and hits (65); committed zero errors; and stole 19 bases.

Morgan is the daughter of Brad and Barbara Spearman and is majoring in kinesiology.
