A scam that has been used in the past is one that purports to sell school calendars that highlight a school or an activity such as football or basketball with part of the proceeds going back to that group. The calendar is never printed or, if it is, the money goes directly in the scammer?s pocket. The school district is not aware this is happening unless someone calls.
There are legitimate businesses and they will be able to produce a letter of authorization with contact names of school personnel. Ask them to leave the information and come back later to collect. If they are legitimate they will return. In the meantime, if you have questions, you can call the school for verification.
