Volleyball Update: Two wins from Grandview and a championship in Argyle

The Kennedale Lady Kats volleyball, who have seen steady improvement all preseason under new head coach Jennifer Patterson, put it all together in winning the Silver Division Championship in Argyle over the weekend. In the process they had to defeat a determined Grandview team. {{more}}
 
Saturday, in the Argyle Tournament, Kennedale had to play with heart and soul to take a win from Grandview. Games don?t often go to five sets but this one did.
 
In a back and forth series, Grandview started strong winning the first set 25-18. The Lady Kats bounced back, winning the next one 25-13. The Lady Zebras, not finished yet, won the 3rd set 25-21. Kennedale had to win the next one and the Kats did, 25-17 sending the tied game into a fifth and deciding set. The Lady Kats never let the Lady Zebras see light, winning 15-5.
 
Then in a non-district match on Tuesday night, the Kennedale volleyball team was up against the Grandview team once again, winning this one in four.
 
The Lady Zebras put on a show in the first set winning 25-9 but the Lady Kats were not walking away from this one. They stormed back taking the next two, 25-18 and 25-15. In the final set, Kennedale fought off the Grandview team and won in extra play 26-24.
 
The Argyle tournament was the last varsity tournament for the season but the Lady Kats still has some tough matches coming up @ Sequin (Sept 9), @ Kaufman (Sept 12) and two old foes, @Lake Worth (Sept 16) and home against Castleberry (Sept 19).
 
District play will start on September 26 at home against Alvarado. This will be Homecoming night in Kennedale with the varsity game starting early at 4:30 p.m. View schedule at KHS Volleyball
 
This Friday night the Lady Kats will continue their winning ways with a match against Fort Worth Young Leadership Academy in the Wildcat Den at Kennedale High School. JV will play at 5:30 p.m. and Varsity play at 6:30 p.m.
