Early voting for the Texas 2014 General Elections began Monday and runs through October 31st. The General Election date is November 4th. {{more}}

Statewide, a record number of 14,025,441 Texans are

registered to vote, said Texas Secretary of State Nandita Berry in a statement

Thursday. The previous highest number of registrations on record was 13,646,226

set in November 2012 before the presidential election.

Across Texas voters will go to the polls to cast votes in a number influential primary races. Every statewide office in the Texas executive branch is up for grabs. Many high-profile legislative and judicial seats are also at stake in this election.

 
There is a statewide ballot initiative on the ballot for voter consideration regarding future funding of roads in Texas.
 

A voter will still need an acceptable form of identification to vote

 
Because of recent court rulings there has been some confusion as to what kind of identification voters will need at the polls. For this election cycle, Texas? new voter photo ID law remains in effect and voters will have to show one of the state approved photo identification cards in order to vote.
 
Acceptable forms of ID include a Texas driver?s license

issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Texas Election

Identification Certificate issued by the DPS, a Texas personal identification

card issued by the DPS, a Texas concealed-handgun license issued by the DPS, a

U.S. military identification card with a photograph, a U.S. citizenship

certificate with a photograph or a U.S. passport.
