One amazing half where she made three consecutive 3-pointers and knocked in five 3-pointers not only helped Midwestern State win a key road game, but it made Lisa Hampton the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week. {{more}}

Hampton won the offensive honor while Ashlee Johnson of Texas A&M-Commerce was honored for her defense.

Hampton scored a season-high 21 points in a 79-70 win at Cameron while tying her career high in 3-pointers. She made 5 of 7 triples while going 6 of 8 overall from the field and 4 of 4 at the free-throw line.

Hampton?s arching shot made a welcome return. Hampton had struggled in her previous five games, scoring in single digits each time while shooting 24.1 percent from the field. Her previous season highs were 20 points against Ouachita Baptist and an LSC high of 13 (Commerce, West Texas A&M).

Hampton, a senior from Kennedale and a Nolan High graduate, leads the LSC in 3-point percentage at .435 and she?s second in 3-pointers made with 47.

The Mustangs (16-3, 7-2) moved into second place with Saturday?s win and will have a chance Wednesday to avenge one of their two losses when they play host to Tarleton State (12-6, 5-4) at 5:30 p.m.

Hampton is a marketing major at Midwestern. Her parents are John and Deborah Hampton.
