On Friday the Kennedale LadyKats wrap up an undefeated district season with a 14-0 win over Venus while the Kennedale Wildcats secured a third place finish with a 3-1 win over Venus. Both teams are in the playoffs this year. {{more}}
LadyKat Soccer
Kennedale (16-2-2, 6-0) completed its sweep of the district Friday night with the shut out of Venus. This is the first time for a Kennedale Soccer team to go undefeated in district play and it is the 13th shut out. The LadyKats out scored their district opponents 58-0 this season.
Ten different players scored for Kennedale. Scoring in the first half was Alondra Olmos (2), Lauren Otts, Abby Olmos, Allie Thornton and Jolene Martinez to give the LadyKats a 6-0 lead. Scoring in the last half was Alondra Olmos, Lauren Otts, Cara Hunt, Allie Thornton, Abbie Key, Taylor Bush, Esmeralda Garcia and Kylie Deel to give the Kats the 14-0 win.
Otts goal in the second half gave the Kats the 100th goal of the season.
The LadyKat will play a playoff warm-up game against Mansfield beginning at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. It will be Senior Night with ceremonies schedule prior to the game.
Wildcat Soccer
The Wildcats (12-8-3, 4-3-1) have wrapped up a third place finish and their first playoff spot in school history with the win over Venus Friday evening.
Kennedale took the lead halfway through the first half with a score and kept the lead until Venus tied the game at the beginning of the 2nd half. Kennedale went on to score two more to secure the win. Scoring for Kennedale was Guillermo Aceituno (2) and Marc Johnson.
The Wildcats will play a warm-up game against Mansfield Lake Ridge on Monday at 5 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. It will be Senior Night with ceremonies scheduled after the game.
