Last week the Kennedale Wildcat baseball team moved to 11-5-1 by defeating two district opponents and going 8-1 in district play. This sets up a showdown Tuesday with the district title on the line with Venus who owns the only district win over the Wildcats this season. {{more}}

 

The Wildcats have split wins with the Venus Bulldogs with the Cats defeating the Dogs 13 -1 in the first meeting and Venus returning the favor by beating Kennedale 8-1 two weeks ago. The Tuesday game time is 7:30 p.m at Venus.

Tuesday April 14, Diamond Hill 17-0 (W)

Two times this season, Kennedale has defeated the winless Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles and on each occasion did not allow a run with scores of 21-0 and 17-0.

 

Nothing was different last Tuesday in the final meeting of the two teams this season as the Wildcats Varsity team jumped out to an early lead on Diamond Hill and captured a 17-0 victory at Diamond Hill High School.

Fifteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Wildcats to put the game away early.

A three-run triple by Alan Sather and a groundout by Chris Rhinehart in the first inning and an RBI single by Aaron Williams, an RBI triple by Steven Murchison, an RBI double by Austin Eggleston, an RBI double by Shane O’Connor, an RBI single by Sather, a two-run single by Eggleston, and an RBI single by O’Connor during the second inning fueled the Kennedale Wildcats Varsity’s offense early.

Sather racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Wildcats.

 

Kennedale’s TJ Aguilar kept Diamond Hill off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the bump. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out five. In his 71 pitches, Aguilar threw 46 strikes and got 10 ground/fly outs.

The Wildcats’ line-up easily handled Diamond Hill pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Friday April 17, Godley 5-4 (W)

All three games with Godley this season have been close affairs. In the first match up Kennedale came away with a 1-0 win. The Cats then walked away with an 8-6 win in the second game. Friday night at home, the Cats scratched out a 5-4 win in an extra inning of play to sweep the Wildcats of Godley this season.

Kennedale and Godley passed the lead back and forth seven times on Friday at KHS over eight inning of play.

The Wildcats finally managed to grab the lead for good after a strong eighth inning, scoring Jake Michener for the win.

Michener paced the Wildcats batters at the plate. Michener went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first, third, and eighth innings.

The top of the first saw Godley take an early lead, 1-0.

The Wildcats of Kennedale posted two runs in the third with single by Stephen Murchison, a sacrifice by Austin Eggleston, a Michener groundball single and a groundout by Cody Bossaller. Murchison and Michener both scored in the inning.

That 2-1 lead held until the top of the 6th, when the Wildcats from Godley scored 3 runs to take a 4-2 lead. Kennedale had no answer in the bottom of the inning as the Godley pitcher, Shaver, went three for three against the Kennedale line-up.

Facing a loss, the Kennedale Wildcats rallied in the bottom of the 7th with two runs to tie the game at 4 and force another inning. In the seventh, Bradley Woodard of Kennedale singled to centerfield, Shane O?Connor singled to left field, TJ Aguilar with a sacrifice advanced the runners and an Aaron Williams groundout scored Woodard. With two outs, Murchison singled to center field scoring O?Connor as the tying run. The inning ended with a flyout by Eggleston but the Cats had survived to play again.

Tyler Perez who had come on in the seventh inning to get the save held Godley hitless over the final two innings of play, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three while throwing 21 strikes in 25 pitches and getting 3 groundouts.

In the bottom of the 8th, a rejuvenated Kennedale team with no outs, put the first two Cats on base on a Michener single to shortstop and a Cody Bossaller bunt. With Perez at bat, Michener scored on a passed ball for the win.

Steven Murchison for Kennedale pitched 6 innings recording 7 strikeouts with 3 walks, allowing 4 runs on four hits. He had 61 strikes in 109 pitches and got 14 ground/fly outs.
