The Kennedale Lady Kats volleyball team (25-13, 6-0) broke into the top ten in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association state-wide poll for 4A at the #10 spot as they continue to dominate on the court. {{more}}This comes as a rematch this Friday will pit the first place Kennedale against second place Godley for sole possession of District 7-4 with game time at 4:30 p.m. KHS.
Kennedale kept their district record unblemished with a solid win over an improving Midlothian Heritage team (21-9, 3-3) Tuesday night in a 3-1 win on Heritage?s home court. The Heritage Jaguars, ranked #30 in the TGCA poll, caught Kennedale cold in the first set winning 25-13. The Kats came back winning the next three sets 25-11, 25-21 and 25-10.
A nod goes to the Jaguars who, as a brand new high school, have only freshmen and sophomores on the team.
For the game for Kennedale, Raeley Crosely (So) led with 5 blocks followed by Bethany Klinkenberg (Jr) with 3. Maggie Pyles led in digs with 11 followed by Katie Miller (Jr) with 7. Kendra Vondra led with 17 assists followed by Kylie Foster with 14. Vondra also led in kills with 7 followed Ranaja Taylor (Jr) and Crosely tied with 6 kills each.
This Friday, the Lady Kats face district rival, the Godley Wildcats (25-10, 5-1), ranked #15 in the TGCA poll, for the second time this season. Kennedale won the first match 3-1 on September 29 by scores of 25-18, 19-25, 27-25 and 25-13.
If you want to see good volleyball played and to see a very good Kennedale team, be sure to reserve time 4:30 p.m. Friday for the game at Kennedale High School. The #10 Lady Kats would love to see a packed house.
