Loss of a teacher and colleague hits high school hard

Yesterday, Kennedale high school students and faculty members learned of the passing of Jeff Samms, one of the teacher at the school. {{more}}
 
Mr. Samms, who was in his 6th year at the high school, taught pre-calculus, geometry and math models classes. He was especially liked by his students who as one of them said [he] ?cared if you learned and wouldn’t stop until you understood.?
 
Before Kennedale, he had worked in Everman and Crowley ISD while working on his teaching certification after serving in the U.S. Navy.
 
Kennedale ISD posted this message this morning. ?Kennedale ISD is deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Kennedale High School teacher, Mr. Jeff Samms. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Counselors will be available throughout the week for students and staff.?
 
Students are planning to hold a candlelight vigil tonight at 7 p.m. in the parking lot at Kennedale High School.
 
Arrangements for funeral services have not been announced.
