The Mayor Pro Tem is usually the senior member of the council and acts in the absence of the Mayor. The position is considered annually and is scheduled for June after the local May elections.
Councilman Frank Fernandez recommended the reappointment of Turner as Mayor Pro Tem. Action to approve was moved By Frank Fernandez and seconded by Liz Carrington. Motion passed with a vote of 4-0-1; with Kelly Turner abstaining.
Turner has been elected four times to the City Council beginning in 2008. Prior to his election on the council he served on the city?s Planning and Zoning Commission.
