“In past years, students at KJHS were not allowed to bring bags or back packs into classrooms; however, our students will be issued Chromebooks in 2016-17 and will need to carry the Chromebooks and accessories in a protective bag, carrier, or case.

Beginning in 2016-17, students will be allowed and encouraged to carry Chromebooks in bags, carriers, or cases.

The Chromebook bags, carriers, or cases should be of standard size, just large enough to provide adequate protection and be able to hold accessories and some of a student?s classroom supplies. As a general rule, the Chromebook bag, case, or carrier should be no larger than 16 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 3-4 inches deep (16? X 12? X 4?). Students may carry back packs that fall within these dimensions.

Oversized bags, cases, or carriers (larger than 16? X 12? X 4?) will not be allowed in classrooms and must be kept in lockers.”

What is a Chromebook …

Digitaltrends says Chromebook is a different

breed of computer. It runs on Google?s web-based Chrome OS, which is designed

to be used with an Internet connection. You can think of a Chromebook as an

Internet-dependent laptop that starts up super-fast (roughly 7 seconds, or a

fraction of the time it takes to boot an older model Windows-based computer). Most

of Chromebook?s documents and apps exist in the cloud. And Google automatically

provides 100 GB of cloud storage for every Chromebook.e country.

The advantage: they are cheaper (much) than a regular

laptop. Because everything is save to the cloud so if it should crash, break or

is lost, a student can pick up another and start where they left off. This also

means that a student can log-in wherever they are and see and complete

assignments whether they are home sick, on a trip out of state or visiting

grandma. And, the ones that the school

purchases are rugged and not easy to break. (The most common problem: when a student

forgets and closes the laptop on their pen or earplug and it cracks the screen and that doesn’t happen often).
