These are important committees that provided the city council the feedback and advice needed to run the city in the best interest of all.
EDC: Economic Development Corporation
EDC Place 1: Mike Johnson (Since 2013)
Mike?s family moved to Kennedale in 1963, and he?s a KISD alum (class of ?72). He and his wife, Sheria (the love of his life), have three grown children and three grandchildren. They founded Texas Tile Contractors in 1982 and moved the business to Kennedale in 2000. Mike also serves as a Trustee and Deacon at Covenant Life Baptist Church in Kennedale, is on the Board of Directors of the Kennedale Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) and Gospel Radio Latin America. Mike truly values the opportunity to serve the city that he and his family call ?home?.
EDC Place 2: Pat Turner (Vice President) 2008
The Turner family has been in Kennedale since 1942. Over the past 74 years, five family members have volunteered approximately forty years of service to the city, and Pat is proud to continue the family tradition.
EDC Place 3: Ron Whitley (2014)
Ron has lived in Kennedale since 2010 when he retired as a Director from Bell Helicopter. He attended UNT from 1963 to 66 and Texas Wesleyan from 1970 to 71, and majoring in business with marketing minor. Ron?s and his wife, LuAnn, have two sons, Jason and Ashton, and four grandchildren. Ron also serves his community as a Kennedale Education Foundation board member (since 2012), District chair of the Tejas Chapter of Boy Scouts of America, former President and current member of the Kennedale Rotary Club.
EDC Place 4: Robert Mundy (President) 1999
Robert Mundy has served Kennedale in leadership positions including Mayor, City Council member, President Economic Development Corporation Board, Chairman Board of Adjustment, and Chairman TownCenter Development District Board. Currently, Robert is a board member and treasurer of the Friends of Library Kennedale and his homeowner?s association. Following service as an U.S. Air Force Captain, Robert moved to Kennedale over thirty years ago.
EDC Place 5: Adrienne Kay (2013)
Adrienne has been in financial services for more than 25 years, and with JPMorgan Chase since moving to Kennedale in 2008, where she is program manager for Business Banking Operations and Technology. She?s also held roles in location strategy and vendor management. Adrienne also served in the Air Force Reserve and remains involved in veteran initiatives throughout the Metroplex. Adrienne is married with two children, was a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission before EDC, and also serves on the Kennedale Education Foundation.
EDC Place 6: Mark Yeary (Alternate) 2008
Mark opened J.M. Yeary Automotive in Kennedale in 1995. He
and his wife of 30+ years and their two children moved to Kennedale in 1999
from Arlington, where we grew up, and their youngest was born shortly after the
move. Two of their children graduated for Kennedale, and the third is on his
way. Mark enjoys spending time with my family, hunting, fishing and being
outdoors. He also serves as the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 35 here in
town.
EDC Place 7: Rebecca Carlton (2007)
Becky, a Commercial Lender for Southwest Bank, chose to build her home in Kennedale in 2006 because she knew it was the type of community she wanted to be a part of. Soon after, she joined the EDC, and over the past decade has worked on many projects, including the establishment of TownCenter and the 9-11 Memorial. Becky enjoys spending time with her children and five grandchildren.
The EDC is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development plan, including industrial, retail, tourism, and commercial development for the City of Kennedale. Regular meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
