Benbrook is the newest Fort Worth high school and this is the first year playing varsity ball. Kennedale, since the realignment last year, plays in District 7-4A along with Springtown, Lake Worth, Mineral Wells, Castleberry and Diamond Hill-Jarvis.
At this juncture Springtown (16-6, 2-0) is positioned as the team to beat in district play. Springtown has played and defeated Mineral Wells and Lake Worth, sweeping both teams in straight sets. In the latest MaxPreps rankings, Springtown is #5 and Kennedale is #8 in Class 4A.
Kennedale will play Mineral Wells this Friday at home with the varsity game scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The Lady Rams and the Kats have not played any common opponents this season. Mineral Wells is 0-1 in district play.
The following Tuesday, the Lady Kats will travel to Springtown to do battle with the district leading Lady Pocos. The varsity game time is set for 6 p.m.
For the match between Kennedale and Benbrook on Tuesday night, Bethany Klinkerg (Sr) led team with 13 kills and 8 digs, Emma Riffe (Sr) 7 aces, Raeley Crosley (Jr) 4 total blocks, Jodi Dixon (Sr) 16 assist and Grace Guadagnolo (So) 11 receives.
