The film titled ? Youth? was directed by Jason Pacheco, starring Casey Ramirez with JT Drayden and Darren Hull – Camera Operators, Max Lowery – Drone operator, Mingo Santos ? Sound Editor, Makayla Reed ? Script Writer. All are students at Kennedale High School. Teacher and sponsor was Daniel Soliz.

This is the second time that Kennedale has won a top 3 rating. Kennedale entered the competition in 2015 for the first time with a short in the Narrative Category called “Plasticity“. Kennedale earned a 3rd place state finish that year.
This year the Kennedale film submission had to pass through three rounds of state competition starting with Round 1 in late January with submission advancing to the Quarterfinals January 20-30. The top two or three selected films then advanced to the State Semifinal Round on February 10 with superior films moving on to the state finals February 10th. The final selections were announced on February 22nd.

Festival background ?
The purpose of the Young Filmmakers Festival is to provide students with the opportunity to explore the art of cinematic storytelling. The films shall focus on storytelling using the techniques and tools found in the cinematic arts.
The UIL Young Filmmakers competition, which has grown in size since its inception in 2014, has two divisions with Division II being for large schools and Division I for small schools. Kennedale is in Division 1.
Within each division there are 4 categories for film makers ? Digital Animation, Documentary, Narrative and Traditional Animation.General information @ UIL Student Film Festival
