Calling these athletes leaders for their respective sports, the Athletic Department expects that they will be contributing to the rise of Northwestern Athletics during the 2017-2018 school year.

One of those making the top ten list is Cole Ward. Cole graduated from Kennedale in 2013 and was a 2 time district champion in golf and earned three MVP awards along with multiple school records in golf.

what they say about Cole…

Junior Cole Ward will return for his final season in the Black-and-Red following two solid years for the Ranger men’s golf team. Ward has led the team in scoring average during both his seasons as a Ranger, including posting an average of 77.8 during last spring semester.

Ward’s consistent effort that he has shown over the course of his career will be vital to the success of what figures to be a very young Ranger squad under the guidance of new head coach Aaron Ford. His style of play and work ethic on and off the course should serve as a good model of expectations for the young Ranger golfers that figure to see plenty of action on the course.

“I’m excited to have Cole back for his final year as a Ranger because he’s been such a solid player for us the past few years,” coach Ford said, “With a lot of new guys coming in and some younger players that stepped up last year and contributed I anticipate Cole’s energy and drive to be better will only help develop those players into consistent contributors such as himself. Cole is one of a kind and is a great kid to have on the team and I can’t wait to see how the new culture around Ranger golf affects his play.”

Ward’s lowest round throughout his Ranger career came at the 2016 Rattler Invite in which he fired a 1-under par round of 71 at the Golf Club of Texas to tie for the lowest round of the tournament that particular day. He was also a key contributor to the record low round during the NCAA era of 288 that was posted by the team back on Sep. 13 of this past season.

The Rangers will take to the course in tournament action on Sep. 11-12 in the Great American Conference Preview at Lake Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City, Okla. Read more @ Ride Rangers Ride
