It is Aubrey Sims, Head coach and Athletic Director at Iowa Park, versus James Polk, Head Coach and Athletict Director at Gainesville. Both coaches shared assistant coaching duties for Richard Barrett?s Kennedale Wildcats for five years and then worked together again when Polk was an assistant coach for Sims at Snyder for 4 years.
Sims left Kennedale first when he moved to the head coaching job at Grandview and then later at Snyder as head coach. Polk followed Sims to Snyder and took over the head coach job there when Sims left for Iowa Park in 2014. All together they have coached together 9 years and are very familiar with each other philosophies, tendencies and coaching abilities.
Iowa Park (District 3/4A DII) finished with 9-3 record last year under Sims, who is now in his 4th year there. The Hawks play in a competitive district that includes Graham, Krum, Vernon and Bridgeport.
Polk stayed at Snyder for a couple of year as the head coach before taking over a struggling Gainesville program last year. Gainesville (District 4/4A DI) plays in an extremely tough district that includes Argyle, Burkburnett, Decatur, Sanger and Wichita Falls Hirschi.

For Polk, this will not be the first time lining up against a Kennedale coaching alumnus. Former Kennedale assistant Danny Youngs is now the head coach at Wichita Falls Hirschi which is a district opponent of Gainesville. Youngs is starting his fourth year at Hirschi.
Hirschi won the game last year against Gainesville. They will play again at the end of season, November 11 at Hirschi.
