The Godley Wildcats took an early lead ending Q1 13-10 over the Kennedale Wildcats. Kennedale struggling to score, tied the game at half 23-23. It all changed after the half, as the Cats came out of their slumber by stacking 26 points on the scoreboard while limiting Godley to just 9. After three quarters, it was 49-32 with Kennedale on top.

Kennedale slammed the door for good on Godley in the 4th by padding their lead and taking the game 66-43. For the Wildcats, this was their 6th straight bi-district title.

Coming up big for Kennedale was Jaden Smith (Jr) with 20 points followed by Uniikye Washington (Sr) 14, Bryce Hackett (Sr) 12, Devon Stapleton (Sr) 8, Blake Taylor (So) 5, Tre Poe (Jr) 2, Lane Hubenak (Sr) 2, Nathan Otts (Sr) 2 and Scott Whorley (So) 1.?

For the Godley Wildcats, top scorers were Bobby Goodloe (Sr) with 11, Jason Faulkenberry (Jr) 10 and Dylan Doyal (Jr) with 9.

Kennedale moved to 21-13, 11-1 on the year. Godley finished their season at 18-13 after making the playoffs for the first time in 3 years and after coming in dead last in their district last year.?

Godley was the 4th seed out of District 8-4A finishing behind #11 Midlothian Heritage (30-6, 12-0), #13 Life Waxahachie (31-7, 10-2) and Stephenville (14-14, 8-4).?

In the match-up between District 7-4A and District 8-4A, Kennedale was the only District 7 team to survive the first round match-ups. Castleberry lost to Stephenville by four, 60-56. Life Waxahachie beat Benbrook 68-57 and Lake Worth fell to Heritage 81-58.

Next up is a rematch with Burkburnett (20-13, 6-2), a 73-59 winner over Brownwood on Tuesday in the bi-district round. Burkburnett finished in 2nd place this year in District 8-4A behind #7 WF Hirschi (23-8, 8-0).

Burkburnett will be looking to avenge last year?s playoff elimination to Kennedale in the area round. The unranked Kennedale defeated the 18th ranked Bulldog team in overtime 90-85 in the upset win. Again this year, Kennedale will be in the underdog role against the #23 ranked Burkburnett team.

The Bulldogs do own a win over Kennedale this year in December during the Whataburger Tournament, winning 75-65.? The Wildcats were struggling to replace several keys players out with injuries and were working in several players who were coming over from football.
