The Kennedale Police Department reported the following 13 incidents for the one week period beginning February 18 through February 24, 2018 and included possession, terroristic threat and theft. {{more: continue …}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

2/18 ? Possession of Controlled Substance, Prohibited Weapon – 1100 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:21 p.m. officers responded to a report of a person slumped over in the driver seat of a vehicle. Upon arrival a 38 year old male was observed in a Chevrolet Blazer, which was parked in a marked space. While waking the male, the officers observed a club lying on the front passenger seat. During an interview with the male, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, related paraphernalia, and two homemade clubs. He was arrested and transported to jail for booking.

2/18 – Theft $100 to $750 – 100 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 7:09 p.m. a victim reported that an unknown male had stolen his cell phone. The victim stated that while he was checking out at a local business, another male was standing next to him. The victim believes that the unknown male lifted the cell phone out of the victim?s front pocket during the transaction.

2/19 – Possession Control Substance – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 4:42 a.m. an officer observed a sleeping female in a vehicle that was parked in a business lot. The female was awakened by the officer and opened her driver?s side door as the window did not roll down. A bag of methamphetamine was lying in plain sight on the floorboard at the female?s feet. She was arrested and transported to jail for booking. The narcotics was tested and placed in evidence.

2/19 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – At 8:29 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A female stated that her ex-boyfriend had come to her apartment and wanted to know why she broke up with him. During an argument the male stuck the female, knocking her unconscious. The female was able to get out of the apartment and called police. The suspect was not present at the officers? arrival but the victim did fill out a family violence statement. A warrant will be issued for the suspect.

2/20 – Burglary – Forest Green Drive: At 6:37 officers responded to a burglary in progress. On arrival, the officers discovered that a burglary had occurred but the suspect(s) were not on scene. Person(s) unknown kicked in the front door and removed spare car keys, cash, jewelry, and electronics. The offense occurred sometime in the afternoon of that day as the victim stated that she was home until 12:45 p.m. and then left.

2/22 – Possession Control Substance – 100 block of N. Dick Price Road: At 2:53 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The female driver and two male passengers were interviewed during the stop. The back seat passenger stated that he had been released from prison three days earlier. He was found to be in possession of a syringe full of heroin. The male was transported to jail for booking and the other two occupants were released at the scene.

2/22 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – At 10:25 a.m. officers responded to a report of an emotionally disturbed person. Two male witnesses stated that a third male had made statements about killing himself and others. The male acknowledged the statements and stated he was having a really bad day. The male was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency detention and evaluation.

2/23 ? Vehicle Burglary – Whitley Court: At 7:00 a.m. a victim reported that her vehicle was burglarized. Person(s) unknown entered the unlocked vehicle and removed a bag containing cash, credit cards, and books.

2/23 – Theft – $2,500 to $30,000 – Falcon View Drive: At 9:38 a.m. a victim contacted police to report that a large amount of jewelry was taken from her home. The time frame for the theft is October of 2017 to this past February. The victim reported that a number of contractors have been working in the home during that time and anyone could have taken the items.

2/23 – Terroristic Threat Interrupt Public Place – At 11:40 a.m. a school resource officer was notified of a threat made at the junior high. A juvenile male had made a threat in regards to shooting up a class room. The teacher was alarmed and reported the student. The student was detained and transported to the juvenile detention facility in Fort Worth.

2/23 – Theft Under $100 – The high school resource officer was contacted on this date by an Arlington police detective in regards to a theft. A student who lives in Arlington was under investigation for an unrelated offense when it was determined that the student had also taken an item that belonged to a teacher. The teacher was contacted and verified the item was missing from his office. The teacher requested that a theft charge be filed.

2/23 – Incident – At 3:15 p.m. the high school resource officer was made aware of a threat made by a student on social media. After investigating the threat, it was determined that the school was not mentioned, and that the threat was general and vague in nature. The suspect was contacted and admitted to the threat but also stated that he had taken it down shortly after posting it. The student was removed from the school immediately and placed in an alternate education program.?

2/24 – Incident ?Lakewood Drive: At 6:20 p.m. an officer received a report of a gun theft. A victim stated that two persons, a male and female, had stayed with him and his wife for a few days. The visitors removed a .40 caliber handgun before leaving and took it with them. The victims received a call from one of the suspects that they had been arrested in Oklahoma and that the handgun was in their vehicle. The victims did not file theft charges but did want to recover the firearm. They made a report in the event that the weapon was used in a crime.
