Both Kennedale High School bass fishing teams have advanced to the state Final Tournament of the Texas High School Bass Association to be held at Lake Sam Rayburn May 19th and 20th.? {{more: continue …}}?
Kennedale is assigned to the West Division of the THSBA and completes with teams from 52 schools in the area. Schools can compete in 5 different fishing tournaments held in their district throughout the year and a running point total is kept.

Out of the 52 schools, Kennedale finished 22nd this year with a total average between the two KHS teams of 369 points. The winning school was Keller with an average among its teams of 483. Schools can compete with multiple teams but it is the average that counts.

Individual team results for the year – West Division ??
- The KHS Team of Justin Harper and Riley Bush had a good year and finished with 2,367 points. The total put them in 7th place out of the 342 teams that competed throughout the year in the western region.??
- Kennedale?s other team of Ethan Miller and Simon Horn finished 73rd with 2,041 points. This ranked them in the top 25% of the team participating. First place was a tie between a team from Coppell and Cedar Hill Collegiate with a total 2,456 points.?

- At the region meet held at Lake Lewisville, Ethan Miller & Simon Horn had a good day on the water and finished in 11th place. Justin Harper & Riley Bush finished 88th. There were 241 teams that qualified for the regional.
Three years – three state tournaments …

This is the third year for Bass Club at Kennedale High School and the third year to send teams to the state tournament.? At the state meet, Kennedale will be up against teams representing the top quarter of teams from around the state.

This year neither team is a stranger to this level of competition. Harper & Riley’s are in their second straight state tournament. As freshmen last year, they finished 27th in the state. Miller & Horn, both juniors, will be also competing in their second state tournament. They qualified as freshmen in 2016 but miss out last year. In 2016 they finished in 6th place in the West Division.?
