Bartlett, Tenn ? The College STUNT Association has named Jasmine Owens, Senior from Oklahoma State University, as the 2018 STUNT Athlete of the Year. {{more: continue …}}
?
?Jasmine personifies what this sport is all about. She has the ability to play every position and is a role model for the rest of her teammates in addition to the STUNT athletes across the country,? says Bill Boggs, Director of College STUNT.?

[Owens was

on the cheer team under Coach Barbara Johnson at Kennedale Junior High and?continued cheering through her senior year with Coach Johnson at Kennedale High School. She graduated KHS in 2014.]?

Jasmine recently graduated from OSU with a major in strategic communications and a minor in history. She plans to spend the month of July traveling in Europe and will start an internship in the fall. She hopes to secure a full time position in the Dallas Fort Worth area afterwards.
?
In addition to the Athlete of the Year honor, Jasmine has been recognized as a first team STUNT All American for three years, including making the 2018 All American team. Being a versatile athlete, Jasmine was able to base in partner stunts, perform in middle layers in pyramids, serve as a top in baskets, and take part in most jumps and tumbling routines for the OSU STUNT team. In the last two years, Jasmine was able to substitute into several nationals routines and perform skills that she had not been using in competition all year.
?

?To watch Jasmine grow and flourish over the past four years has been incredible. When she arrived at OSU, she was an introverted freshman with so much talent and even more potential,? says Lindsay Bracken, coach for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. ?Jasmine came out of her shell her second year and has added quite the personality to the team since then. She has worked very hard to develop her natural talent into refined skills, and would often perform extra reps of her skills outside of practice.?

?
Created by USA Cheer to be an additional sport option for female athletes, STUNT was derived from traditional cheerleading and developed to fulfill all NCAA emerging sport requirements, and has consistently met all minimum requirements for consideration. STUNT removes the crowd-leading component of traditional cheerleading and focuses on the technical and athletic components, which include partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, jumps and tumbling skills.?
