Jaden Smith, a senior wide receiver for the Kennedale Wildcats, has announced his intentions to attend Montana State University next year and play for the Bobcats. {{more: continue…}}

At 6?6? and 190 lbs, Smith has attracted a lot of attention and he has given his verbal commitment to MSU over offers from Howard University in D.C. and the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Montana State University is located in Bozeman, Montana and is the state?s largest university with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 14,500 students.

MSU is a NCAA Division 1 AA school and plays in the Big Sky Conference. Its program dates back to 1897 and has claimed 3 national title, each at a different level ? NAIA, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division 1-AA.

Currently there are six players listed on the roster from the State of Texas. Head Coach is Jeff Choate who will be entering his first football season as a head coach.

Last year MSU finished in the middle of the pack in the Big Sky Conference with a record of 5-3 and overall of 5-6. The conference includes Southern Utah, Weber State, Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Montana, Montana State, UC Davis, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, North Dakota, Cal Poly and Portland State. Last year North Dakota State from Big Sky won the national championship for NCAA Division I AA.

Smith has made one visit so far and plans to take an official visit for a home game some time this season but so far he likes what he has seen and heard.

?They?re trying to get better and they?re trying to make things greater and they?re also expanding a lot,? Smith told Paul Schwedelson of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. ?So what once was known as small Montana State University won?t be like that for much longer, and I just want to get on that train while it?s moving.?

There is a whole football season ahead of Smith before he signs on any dotted line. Wide receiver don?t often get to strut their stuff in the Wildcat run-oriented offense but look for some good looks for Smith this year. He is too good of an athlete for the Wildcats not to find a way to exploit his talents this season.

Last year Smith led all receivers with 19 receptions for 466 yards at 24.5 yards per and 6 touchdowns.
