KPD Incident Reports for December 2 – 8, 2018

The Kennedale Police Department reported the following nine incidents for the one week period December 2 through December 8, 2018. The reports included unlawful possession, indency, found phone and assault.?{{more: continue …}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

12/2 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation -? At 8:14 p.m. officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. A juvenile female was creating a disturbance at her home and was making threats to do self-harm. The female was detained and transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental evaluation.

12/3 ? Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:24 a.m. an officer observed a vehicle with a fictitious temporary license plate. The vehicle contained two adult males, a driver and passenger. The passenger stated that the vehicle belonged to him. The driver had an arrest warrant from Roanoke which could not be confirmed. During the interview of the occupants it was discovered that the vehicle contained a bag with methamphetamine residue and a 9mm firearm. The passenger denied the firearm was his at first but later admitted to it. The passenger was shown to be on probation for a felony drug possession charge and was prohibited from having a firearm. He was arrested and transported to jail for booking.

12/4 – Indecency w/Child (Sexual Contact) -? At 10:00 a.m. a detective met at the police department with a juvenile female and her guardian. The meeting was to file a complaint of online solicitation of sex with a minor. During the meeting it was determined that the solicitation did not occur in Kennedale?s police jurisdiction. The female juvenile did report sexual contact with an adult male in Kennedale on a separate occasion. This offense is being investigated further.

12/4 – Abandoned/ Found Property – 400 block of Municipal Drive: At 7:45 p.m. a cell phone was turned over to an officer at the city?s tree lighting event. An announcement was made and the owner contacted the officer to reclaim the property.

12/4 – Accident/Duty/Striking Unattended Vehicle – Shady Lane: At 10:00 p.m. a victim reported that his vehicle was struck by a passing vehicle that failed to stop. The victim?s vehicle was parked at the curb when struck.

12/5 – Assault (Bodily Injury) (Family Violence) -? At 4:34 p.m. officers responded to a report of a family violence assault. An adult female reported that she and her son had argued when it became physical. The son attacked the mother and she was able to stop the assault using pepper spray. The suspect left the residence before officers arrived.

12/6 – Possession Control Substance – Paula Lane: At 1:30 a.m. an officer stopped a suspicious vehicle. During the interview of the three adult male occupants it was determined that one of the passengers was in possession of cocaine. He was arrested and transported to jail for booking.

12/6 – Incident – Oak Forest Court: At 4:47 p.m. a juvenile female reported that as she exited her school bus at her residence, an unknown male was sitting nearby in a dark colored vehicle. The male silently motioned for the juvenile to come to his vehicle but she ran toward her home to tell her older siblings. The driver left the area without making any contact.

12/6 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation -? At 7:34 p.m. officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. An adult male had argued with his wife and left the residence after threatening to harm himself. The male was supposed to be in possession of a firearm. While officers were on scene, the male returned. He was found to have a firearm in his vehicle and admitted to threatening suicide earlier to his wife. The male was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental evaluation.
