After last night 80-48 victory over Benbrook, the view from atop of District 9-4A for the Kennedale Lady Kats (14-13, 6-0) is nice, very nice. {{more: continue …}}?
Besides putting the Kats in the win column in their overall record, the Kats are on track to win another district title – this would be their 8th straight. Last year Kennedale finished 21-17 thanks to a 12-0 sweep of the district and went three deep into the state playoffs. The Kats have won their last 31 district games dating back to the 2015-16, going undefeated in both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 season.

Nothing is sure, but Kennedale this season has outscored it six district opponents in the first half of play 452 to 189. Kennedale for the seasons is averaging just over 60 points a game while allowing just under 52 points. In district play, Kennedale has averaged 75 points while allowing 32.?

Benbrook, their opponent last night, was undefeated in district play going in to the game and now falls into second place at 10-10, 4-1.?

After a Friday night off, the Lady Kat will travel next Tuesday to River Oaks to play Castleberry High School to begin the second round of district play. Varsity game time is 6:30 p.m.

Kennedale 4A All State player Kalyne Daniels (Sr) entered the season with 873 pts, she eclipsed the 1000 points back on November 20 and is still going strong.?
At 5.8″ she is very versatile and plays SG/PF for the Lady Kats. Kalyne is averaging 20.0ppg & 6.0rbg.

Kennedale has established itself has girls basketball power dating back to the early 2000. This has included a great tradition with 14 All State players beginning in 2003-04 and continuing through last year, missing only the 2008-09 school year without an all-star named.?Besides Daniels the list includes Courtney Lee (2 years), Samatha Mahnesmith (4 years), Destini Hughes (2 years), Keira Phillips, Desiree Phillips, Jamaika Hughes (2 years), McKinley Bostad (4 years), Autummn Williams (2 years), Travanti Downes, Sadie Mahnesmith, Jasymn Poe, Evie Whorley (2 years) and Lucy Benson (2 years).?Kalyne hopes to leave her mark along with the other Lady Kats that paved the way. Her goal is to help the Lady Kats win its 8th straight district title and then make a run in the state playoffs.
