The Kennedale Police Department reported the following 28 incidents for the two week period December 23, 2018 (15) through January 5, 2019 (13). The reports included unlawful possession, missing person, recover of stolen vehicle, accident involving death, burglary, hit and run, DWI and assault.? {{more: continue … }}
These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.
Police Reports -?December 23 – 29, 2018?
12/24 – Incident (other) – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:24 a.m. an officer observed a male exit a vehicle and go into a business. The license plate was displayed on a black Cadillac but actually belonged on a different vehicle. Upon checking the inside of the business, it was discovered that the vehicle driver had left without being seen. The registered owner was contacted and advised that the vehicle had been sold to a car broker in mid-2018. A temporary tag was located inside the vehicle but the new owner was not located. Because the vehicle had been abandoned it was impounded for further investigation by the Auto Theft Task Force.
12/23 – Possession Drug Paraphernalia – At 2:33 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A female victim reported that her husband had threatened her and had displayed a firearm. The suspect was not on scene when officers. The victim gave the description of the suspect?s vehicle and one of the officers recalled seeing the vehicle leaving that area as they arrived. The vehicle and suspect were located a short distance away. The suspect did not have a weapon on his person but did have active warrants from another city as well as narcotics paraphernalia in his vehicle. During the stop the suspect developed a medical issue and was released to medics for transport to a local hospital. He was issued a citation for the paraphernalia.
12/24 – Missing Person (adult) – S. New Hope Road: At 8:03 p.m. a complainant reported that her 59 year old son was missing from her home. The son lives in a night shelter in Fort Worth and he never returned there either.
12/25 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) ? At 11:13 p.m. officers responded to a person with a gun call. On the officers? arrival, the female property owner stated that she had been arguing with the suspect female over the suspect being in possession of an unauthorized handgun. During this argument the suspect female physically assaulted the property owner. The suspect female denied having a gun but later admitted to having it and hiding it on the property. She led the officers to the weapon after stating that she had found it earlier. Since the suspect is a convicted felon, she was arrested for possessing the handgun and for the assault. She was transported to jail for booking.
12/25 ? Hit and Run Accident – 4000 block of S. Eden Road: At 3:52 p.m. an officer observed a white Chevrolet minivan sitting in a field. The van appeared to have been in an accident. The California license plate returned to an owner in Florida. An owner couldn?t be located and the van was impounded pending further investigation.
12/26 ? Carrying Prohibited Weapon – 200 block of Valley Lane: At 12:25 a.m. officers were dispatched to a suspicious person call in a business park. When the officers arrived the suspect was located and was acting oddly. They observed some methamphetamine in the floorboard of his vehicle. During a search of the vehicle the officers found a large quantity of meth as well as several explosive devices (PVC pipe bombs) in some backpacks on the rear seat. Fort Worth Bomb Squad responded and took the devices for further investigation and disarming.
12/26 – Delivery of Control Substance – N. Dick Price Road: At 12:15 a.m. an officer checked a license plate on a moving vehicle. The return showed the owner to have an active felony arrest warrant for delivery of a controlled substance. The vehicle was stopped and the driver detained. After the warrant was confirmed by dispatch, the driver was arrested and transported to jail for booking.
12/26 – Incident (other) – At 7:38 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. Two females, a mother and daughter, were arguing. The daughter, who is the resident of the property, told her mother to leave. The mother was attempting to pack to leave when the argument occurred. The mother did collect her things and left to go home to another city.
12/26 – Recovered Stolen Vehicle (other agency) – 300 block of Sublett Road: At 8:10 p.m. an officer responded to a call about a motorist assist. The caller stated that a vehicle was disabled. On arrival the officer discovered a vehicle that was in several large pieces. A VIN was located and the vehicle was reported to be stolen in Allen, Texas. The vehicle pieces were impounded and held for the Allen Police.
12/26 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – At 11:12 p.m. officers responded to a welfare check. A female was reported to be harming herself by cutting her arms. The female was located and did have fresh injuries consistent with self-cutting. Based on statements made by the female the officers believed her to be an on-going threat to her own safety, she was detained and transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
12/27 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – At 1:12 p.m. officers responded to a welfare check. A female caller reported witnessing an attempted suicide on Facebook by a known male residing at the location. The male was located but was outside the home when officers arrived. He displayed injuries consistent with the report and admitted to officers that he had made the video for attention. The male was detained for an emergency mental evaluation and transported to JPS Hospital.
12/28 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation -? At 6:39 p.m. officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. Three friends of a male had all received messages from him threatening to harm himself. The male was located and admitted to making the threats. He was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
12/28 ? Theft $30,000 to $150,000 – Hunters Haven Drive: At 1:53 p.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown had removed a large amount of jewelry from her home. The owner has had numerous contractors in the home.
12/29 – Burglary – 700 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 1:29 p.m. a business owner reported that person(s) unknown had entered her property and removed cash and property.
12/29 – Assault by Contact – At 6:13 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A juvenile female was at the location and was refusing to leave with her mother. The juvenile was a reported runaway out of Fort Worth and she has been staying at the residence with her boyfriend?s family. The juvenile was released to her mother and left with her.

12/30 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – At 6:25 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. An adult female victim stated that she had been in an ongoing dispute with her parents during the day. The adults all live in the same home. The victim?s step-father allegedly poured water onto an internet modem and the victim then got into a physical altercation with her mother (suspect). The suspect grabbed the victim and choked her. The victim displayed injuries consistent with her account. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to jail for booking.
12/31 – Burglary -? At 11:00 p.m. officers responded to a burglary in progress. On arrival officers discovered the garage door up and the door into the residence open. A search of the home showed that an unknown person or persons had opened a number of doors and drawers all through the home. The homeowner was asleep in the residence and the caller, a relative of the resident, was located in another room. It was determined that an unknown male had entered the home without authorization, and the caller and a friend locked themselves in a room to call police. Before leaving, the male had gone through the residence and two cars that were in the driveway. While an officer was taking the report, another officer checked the neighborhood and found a male standing at the front door of a nearby residence. When the officer stopped to speak to the male, a second call came in about a possible burglary in progress at the residence the officer was standing at the door of. It was determined that the male had been the suspect that entered the first home and was apparently trying to enter the second home when observed by the officer. The male, who was also wanted for parole violation, had property on his person that was linked to the original burglary. He was arrested and transported to jail for booking.
1/01 ? Vehicle Burglary – 1200 block of Vera Lane: At 12:48 a.m. an officer discovered a vehicle that appeared to be burglarized. The owner looked through the vehicle and discovered that a set of keys were taken from the console. A male that had just been taken into custody for burglary was found to have the keys in his possession. The property was returned to the owner.
1/01 – DWI/open Alcohol Container – 800 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 3:37 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The adult female driver smelled of an alcoholic beverage and was removed from the vehicle. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment. She was placed under arrest for transport to jail for booking and a blood draw.
1/01 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – At 1:27 a.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. On arrival officers located two vehicles in the roadway and two females present. One female was a witness and stated that when she arrived on scene she observed the other female (victim) and a male (suspect) in a physical altercation. The victim stated to officers that she and her boyfriend were in a vehicle but stopped to get out while arguing. When the suspect attempted to drive away the victim tried to stop him, causing the suspect to begin striking the victim. She had injuries consistent with her account. The suspect ran away on foot before officers responded. The victim left with a family member who responded to the scene.
1/02 ? Theft $100 to $750 – 600 block of Bluebonnet Lane: At 1:37 p.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown removed a package from his porch. The package contained medical supplies.
1/02 – Possession Marijuana – Arthur Drive: At 11:06 p.m. an officer observed a suspicious vehicle in a neighborhood. The vehicle finally stopped in front of a home and the passenger exited the vehicle. The officer made contact with both occupants of the vehicle, which smelled of marijuana. Officers observed what they believed to be marijuana in plain view on the driver?s door. During the interview the driver pulled his trousers up and officers observed a large bulge that turned out to be two large bags of marijuana. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to jail for booking.
1/03 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 7:14 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance. A male was reported to have been at three different businesses before going into a restaurant and barricading himself in a rest room. After a negotiator and SWAT team arrived from Mansfield, the suspect decided to give up and come out of the rest room. The suspect was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
1/03 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – Kennedale New Hope Road: At 9:07 p.m. officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. An adult male had locked himself in a bathroom and refused to come out. The male was distraught due to his girlfriend, who was on scene, breaking up with him. The male stated he was cutting himself. When an officer forced open the door, the male began to fight and attempted to flee. He was taken into custody and was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency detention and mental evaluation.
1/03 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – S. Eden Road: At 7:12 p.m. an officer stopped for an unidentified male in the roadway. The male charged at the officer but then ran away toward some buildings. The male was speaking in an erratic manner and at least once pointed an unknown object at the officer as though it were a firearm. The officer followed the male until back up arrived on scene and he was taken into custody. The father of the male arrived shortly after the second officer and stated that his son is a military veteran dealing with mental issues. The male was detained and taken to JPS Hospital for an emergency evaluation.
1/04 ? Hit and Run Accident – 300 block of S. New Hope Road: At 11:37 a.m. a victim reported that her vehicle had been struck by another vehicle which had failed to stop. A witness observed the accident and got the suspect vehicle license plate number.
1/04 ? Fraudulent Use/Possession of. Identifying Info – Pine Meadow Drive: At 5:34 p.m. a victim reported that unknown person(s) had stolen his debit card number and attempted to make purchases. The victim is unaware of how the suspect(s) got his information.
