The three positions are Place 1 currently held by Rockie Gilley, Place 2 held by Sandra Lee and Place 5 held by Jan Joplin. Term of office is for 2 years.

To appear on the ballot, qualified persons must submit the required applications and forms in the packet to the City Secretary’s Office (405 Municipal Drive, Kennedale, TX 76060) no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019. City Hall office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. (City Offices are closed Monday, January 21, 2018 for Martin Luther King Day).?
After submission, the City Secretary?s Office is allotted 5 (five) days to review applications (Texas Election Code ?141.032). If an application is found to be incomplete or invalid after the filing deadline has passed, it cannot be amended nor can a new application be filed. It is strongly suggested that you file as soon as is practical to allow sufficient time for this review and corrections, if necessary.

According to the Kennedale Home Rule Chatter ?4.04 each member of the City Council, including the Mayor, shall meet the following qualifications:??
- Be a registered voter of the City;
- Have resided in the City for one (1) year before the date of the election;
- Continue residency in the City during the term of office;
- Not hold more than one public elective office;
- Not hold an appointed office of the City excluding boards, committees, and commissions;
- Be at least 21 years of age;
- Not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court; and?
- Not have been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
- No candidate may file for more than one office or position number per election.?
