We will be opening the meaning of Psalm 137 on this Sunday. Psalm 137 is a hymn expressing the yearnings of the Jewish people during their Babylonian exile. {{more: continue …}}
?
In its whole form of nine verses, the psalm reflects the longing for Jerusalem as well as hatred for the Holy City’s enemies with sometimes violent imagery.
?
There we sat down, yea, we wept: The immense rivers of Babylon said to the exiled one, you?re not home anymore. As they remembered Zion they wept.?
  • They wept for the death of so many loved ones.
  • They wept for the loss of almost everything they owned.
  • They wept for the destroyed city of Jerusalem and her great temple.
  • They wept for the agony of a forced march from Judea to Babylon.
  • They wept for the cruelty of their captors.
  • They wept for the loss of such a pleasant and blessed past.
  • They wept for the forced captivity of their present.
  • They wept for the bleak nature of their future.
  • They wept tor their sin that invited such judgment from God.?
When we find ourselves weeping and feeling lost, we must remember there is hope in the name of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus.
?
God knows that we all struggle with finding and holding onto hope. When you are facing tests of faith, even the strongest Christians can find it a challenge to find hope. All of us need to be reminded from time to time of the hope that God, Jesus and the Bible offer to us in our daily lives.
?
Here are a few verses to restore your hope:
  • Jeremiah 29:11
  • 1Peter 5:10
  • Galatians 6:8
  • Hebrews 11;11
  • Isaiah 40:31
The Devil may never get you to do drugs, drink, or smoke, but if he can just get you to hang up your harp & sing a silent song, he’s got you. Sing praises to our God!
?
“I don’t know how, but I know WHO!”
?
See you on Sunday!
?

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Nelda
