Agenda …??
- Consider an Ordinance, renewing the Mayor?s Local Disaster Declaration in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
- Summary: This item has been added to the agenda for use in the event Mayor Brian Johnson has issued an Amended?Declaration of Public Health Emergency since the last meeting and a renewal by Council becomes necessary. If so,?the City Attorney’s Office will prepare an Ordinance that would allow the Council’s consideration of extending the?Mayor’s updated declaration. It may be that paragraph 7 of the current Declaration eliminates the need for further?action by Council.
As of the publication of this packet, the Council had extended the most recent declaration (Mayor
Second Amended Declaration of Public Health Emergency) through 11:59?p.m. on April 30, 2020, via adoption of Ordinance 695 at the special meeting on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
?
Since that meeting, staff has filed each of Mayor Johnson’s three declarations with the Texas Department of?Emergency Management (TDEM), which accepts these on behalf of the Governor’s Office. This step secures the?City’s ability to seek future reimbursement for unbudgeted expenditures associated with the emergency, should those?funds become available.?
- Discussion of issues relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency. Similarly to the previous item, this item has been added to the agenda in the event there is a need.
- Any additional information will be provided before the meeting as appropriate.?
- Discuss, consider, and provide staff direction regarding an economic assistance grant or loan program for local small?businesses relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the City?s local disaster declaration.?
- Summary: This item is posted so that the Council may engage in general discussion and provide direction to staff regarding the development of an assistance program benefiting local businesses who may have been negatively impacted as a direct result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.?
