Today, Tuesday, April 21, 2020 Tarrant County reported 1,333 COVID-19 cases. This is?up from 1,242 reported on Sunday, April 19 for a total of 91 new cases. {{more: continue …}}

Dallas County has recorded 2,512 while Texas has reported 20,196 cases statewide (up 1,273 from 18,923). Meanwhile, Kennedale remains at 2 cases recorded with 1 recovery.

Some good news …

In the first ten days of reporting by the county, Tarrant’s case count was doubly every day. It is now doubly at a slower rate at approximate intervals of every 5 days and seems to be holding. State officials expected to see a leveling of the numbers statewide by the beginning of May but the actual numbers will vary from location to location within the state.

Recoveries continue to rise …?

Tarrant County reported 42 deaths (up 3) with 223 recoveries (up 34). There are 132 currently hospitalized (up 17). Dallas County has documented 60 deaths.

The State of Texas has now surpassed 500 deaths with 517 documented (up 40). State has seen those hospitalized drop in consecutive reports with 1,419 hospitalized in latest report (down 52) and 6,486 estimated recoveries (up 1,152 from 5,334).

The City of Kennedale has no new case in the past week and remains at a total of 2 but listed one recovery (up 1) with no deaths registered. No addition information provided.

Border cities of Fort Worth, Forest Hill, and Arlington experienced increases while Everman and Mansfield reported no new cases.?

75% of cases are ages 24-64, 53% are males along with 64% of deaths but most of those are age 65+ (updated figures) …

As more cases in the county are documented, a clearer picture is emerging of who is affected by the the coronavirus and who is dying from it. It is not only an “old people’s” illness.

The overall majority getting the disease are breadwinners between the ages of 24 and 64 and it is more likely that the guys (53%) will fall ill with the virus as oppose to their female counterparts at 47%.

This is a consistent finding since Kennedale News first started reporting the county stats. It should be noted that Texas statewide stats show a closer male to female ratio.

Deaths by age grouping singles out the older ages …

However, a majority of deaths are in the older ages (64+) with 60% of all cases reported. There are no deaths from birth to 24. For the age range 25-44 the percentage is 10% and rises to 31% for the age group 45-64. Group together, the age group 45 and up account for 91% of all deaths.

The breakdown of cases reported by age group follows a somewhat similar path as the reported deaths with just 1% reported for ages birth to 14, 7% for ages 15-24, and 34% for the 25-44 age bracket. It grows to 41% for the middle ages of 45 to 64 but drops to 17% for the elder generation of 65+. If you combine the two middle groups ages 24-64, they account for 75% of all cases.
